Special Education Teacher in Conover, NC

Embark on a truly rewarding contract opportunity supporting students as a Special Education Teacher in a dynamic setting near Conover, NC. This position runs from August 13, 2026, through June 3, 2027, with a full-time Monday through Friday schedule (8:00am – 3:30pm, up to 40 hours per week). You'll work closely with middle and high school students (caseload of 15-18) at schools prioritizing the needs of learners with high levels of autism who follow extended content standards, as well as those in resource and inclusion programs.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Valid North Carolina Adapted Curriculum teaching license (required for Discovery School position)
• Experience providing instruction or support to students with autism or special needs preferred
• Understanding of extended content standards and differentiated instruction
• Strong classroom management and organizational skills
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
• Commitment to fostering a supportive, positive learning environment

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement individualized lesson plans tailored to students’ IEP goals and abilities
• Develop resources and strategies to support diverse learners’ needs in adapted, resource, and inclusion settings
• Partner with general educators and support staff to ensure accommodations and modifications are met
• Track student progress, keep detailed records, and participate in IEP meetings
• Foster positive relationships with students and families, encouraging student engagement and social-emotional growth
