Make a vibrant impact as a Mental Health Specialist supporting elementary students for the 2025/2026 academic year! In this contract role, you’ll collaborate with general education students to provide both individual and group social-emotional support, empowering young learners to thrive. You’ll also play a key part in supporting classroom environments, assisting with professional learning, and helping implement positive behavior initiatives across schools.

Ideal candidates will hold a Master’s degree and the necessary Michigan LARA licensure. This opportunity requires an individual passionate about fostering resilience, emotional growth, and positive school culture.

What makes you a great fit?

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field (required)
  • Valid and active LARA license per Michigan guidelines
  • Michigan Department of Education (MDE) School Psychologist or School Social Worker Credential, or:
    • Licensed/limited licensed Master's level psychologist or social worker
    • Licensed/limited licensed marriage and family therapist
    • Licensed/limited licensed professional counselor
    • School Counselor License or any qualifying school counseling/teaching credentials with required endorsements
    • If holding a Temporary/Preliminary School Counselor Credential: Commitment to complete requirements for LLPC/LPC within 24 months
  • Experience working in K-12 settings, with a positive, collaborative approach
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills

Your key responsibilities:

  • Directly support general education students through individual and group counseling
  • Deliver proactive social-emotional programs and professional development for staff
  • Collaborate with educators to create inclusive, supportive learning environments
  • Participate in implementing evidence-based behavior interventions and positive behavior supports
