Job Description
A fulfilling opportunity is available for a Mental Health Specialist for the 2025-2026 school year, supporting students within a vibrant Michigan school district. This contract position focuses on providing essential social-emotional support to general education students through both individual and group interventions. Opportunities exist to work directly with two elementary schools or a high school, according to your interests and strengths.
As a key mental health resource, you will also collaborate with educators, assist in implementing positive behavior programs, and support professional learning across school communities. Qualifications:
- Master's degree (required—candidates without a master’s will not be considered)
- Current LARA license (required)
- One of the following credentials/licensure:
- Licensed master’s level psychologist or limited license under supervision
- MDE credentialed master’s level school psychologist
- Licensed master’s level social worker or school social worker (including limited under supervision)
- Licensed master’s level marriage and family therapist
- Licensed master’s level professional counselor (or limited license with qualified supervision)
- School Counselor License, Michigan Teaching Certificate with School Counselor endorsement, Preliminary or Temporary School Counselor Credential (with a path to full licensure within 24 months)
- Experience supporting youth with social-emotional or behavioral health needs is strongly preferred
Responsibilities:
- Deliver individual and group social-emotional support to students
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff
- Implement and monitor positive behavior intervention programs
- Support professional development initiatives related to mental health
- Adapt to the needs of each classroom and school environment
