School-Based Social Worker - Lapeer, Michigan
Job Description
Support young learners and their families as a dedicated Social Worker on a contract basis for the upcoming school year. This short-term role runs from early November through the end of December 2026, covering a maternity leave within a respected elementary school environment. You’ll work a full-time schedule of 37.5 hours per week, serving an elementary caseload across two schools and collaborating with educational professionals to help students thrive socially and emotionally.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid state licensure or certification as a School Social Worker
- Professional experience supporting students within educational settings, ideally at the elementary level
- Proficiency in crisis intervention, counseling, and developing individualized support strategies
- Strong collaboration and communication skills with staff, students, and families
- Ability to maintain detailed, confidential records and uphold ethical standards in all interactions
Responsibilities Include:
- Provide direct social-emotional support and counseling to students, individually and in small groups
- Consult with teachers, school counselors, and administrators to develop intervention plans
- Conduct assessments to identify student needs and advocate for appropriate resources
- Support positive behavioral interventions and manage crisis situations as necessary
- Maintain ongoing communication with families to support student success and well-being
- Document services and progress in accordance with school and district policies
