Special Education Teacher | Davis, California

An exciting opportunity awaits a dedicated Special Education Teacher passionate about empowering middle school students in a specialized classroom setting. This full-time contract role supports a Small Group Development (SDC SPED) caseload of 12 students in grades 6–8, offering a consistent Monday–Friday schedule (8:00am–3:30pm Mon–Thurs; 8:00am–3:00pm Fri). The assignment begins as soon as possible and continues through June 6, 2027.

Ideal candidates bring expertise and enthusiasm for creating inclusive learning environments, ensuring every student’s unique needs are addressed. Current California mild/moderate special education credentials are required for this position.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Active California Mild/Moderate Special Education credential (required)
• Experience working with middle school students in an SDC SPED environment
• Strong classroom management and behavioral support skills
• Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Collaborative spirit with educators, families, and specialists
• Excellent organizational and communication abilities

Core Responsibilities:

• Provide direct instruction and adaptive support to a self-contained class of 12 students
• Develop lesson plans tailored to diversified learning styles and abilities
• Implement accommodations, modifications, and behavioral plans as prescribed in IEPs
• Foster a nurturing, inclusive classroom community, promoting student growth and empowerment
• Collaborate with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and related service providers
• Communicate regularly with families about student progress and goals
