Special Education Teacher | Dixon, California

Shape the future of middle school students as a Special Education Teacher, supporting a dedicated SDC (Special Day Class) classroom. This contract opportunity offers the chance to work full-time with a small group of motivated learners in grades 6 through 8. You’ll actively contribute to the learning journey for a caseload of 12 students, collaborating with an energetic educational team and making a meaningful impact every day.

Key qualifications:

• Valid and active California Mild/Moderate Education Specialist Credential (required)
• Previous experience working with middle school students in an SDC or special education setting is strongly preferred
• Knowledge of IEP processes, individualized instruction, and data-driven teaching practices
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with educators, support staff, and parents
• Commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive classroom environment

Role responsibilities:

• Deliver specialized instruction based on students’ IEPs, adapting curriculum as needed
• Develop and manage individualized education plans, tracking student progress and goals
• Create engaging, differentiated lessons that promote social, emotional, and academic growth
• Partner with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and related service providers
• Communicate clearly with families and advocate for student needs
• Operate within a Monday–Thursday, 8:00 AM–3:30 PM, and Friday, 8:00 AM–3:00 PM schedule
