Occupational Therapist School Setting in Canton, MI

Qualifications and Desired Background:

• Valid, current Occupational Therapy license required
• Experience providing OT services in a school-based setting
• Familiarity with individualized education programs (IEPs)
• Ability to work with children at diverse developmental levels, from elementary through high school
• Strong communication and documentation skills
• Collaborative spirit for working with educators, parents, and multidisciplinary teams

Core Responsibilities:

• Deliver direct and consultative OT services to students according to their IEPs
• Assess students’ functional abilities and needs within the classroom context
• Develop and implement intervention strategies and therapeutic activities
• Maintain accurate documentation, progress notes, and reports
• Attend and contribute to IEP meetings and teams
• Educate and counsel teachers, staff, and families regarding adaptive strategies and accommodations
• Travel between Childs Elementary and High School as assigned
