Make a direct impact in students’ lives by utilizing your sign language expertise in an educational setting for the full 2026/2027 school year. This rewarding contract position is ideal for professionals committed to fostering accessibility and communication within the classroom. You will collaborate 1:1 with a high school student, providing consistent onsite interpreting during regular academic programming. The schedule offers flexibility, with the primary need on Mondays and Fridays—though some adjustments can be made in coordination with the school team.

Qualifications:

  • Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter, with an EIPA score of 3.5 or above (required)
  • Recent PA onboarding, completed within one year of the start date
  • Previous experience supporting students in academic environments is a plus
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Commitment to confidentiality and ethical interpreting standards
  • Ability to develop rapport with students and school staff

Responsibilities:

  • Provide accurate, timely sign language interpretation for a high school student, ensuring full access to classroom instruction and school activities
  • Collaborate with educators and support staff to facilitate seamless communication and integrate interpreting services into daily routines
  • Maintain professional boundaries while remaining approachable and supportive
  • Assist with clarification and comprehension as needed, while promoting independence for the student
  • Adapt to diverse subject matter and varying classroom dynamics
