Desired Qualifications:

• Fluency and proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
• Prior experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in educational settings preferred
• Possession or willingness to obtain Virginia Quality Assurance Screening (VQAS) Level III or Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) score of 3.5 or higher (final requirements pending)
• Excellent interpersonal skills, patience, and adaptability to ever-changing student needs and settings
• Ability to pass a VA Department of Social Services background check (to be initiated immediately)
• Valid and current negative TB test, required by state guidelines

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide real-time ASL interpretation for students across a range of grade levels on an as-needed basis
• Facilitate clear and effective communication between deaf/hard-of-hearing students, their peers, and school staff
• Adapt quickly to varying school assignments and student caseloads in a supportive, collaborative educational environment
• Ensure adherence to state credentialing and compliance standards
