Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting students with unique learning needs in a school setting near Mooresville, NC. This full-time assignment runs from August 13, 2026, through June 3, 2027, and offers the chance to engage deeply with middle and high school students who benefit from individualized special education services.

This position asks for a skilled educator with a license in Adapted Curriculum to foster student growth through both inclusion and resource environments. You'll work at up to three different locations during the contract to provide specialized instruction, primarily with students exhibiting high levels of autism and those following extended content standards.

Qualifications and Desired Experience

  • Valid Adapted Curriculum license, required for the Discovery School.
  • Experience teaching middle and high school students in special education settings.
  • Knowledge and application of individualized education programs (IEPs).
  • Ability to differentiate instruction across various settings—including inclusion/resource models.
  • Skill in managing a caseload of 15-18 students with a range of academic and behavioral needs.
  • Compassion, patience, and a commitment to fostering social-emotional development.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and track student IEPs in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Deliver instruction and modify curriculum for learners with autism and high-support needs.
  • Coordinate inclusive learning at West Iredell High School and support resource programming at Third Creek Middle School.
  • Engage with families and allied professionals to ensure student progress.
  • Support students' personal and academic growth in a safe, positive environment.
