Educational Sign Language Interpreter - Hazel Green, AL

Make a difference every day as a school-based Sign Language Interpreter supporting a student in an educational setting. This full-time contract opportunity offers a rewarding 1:1 assignment at an elementary school, working closely with both the student and educational staff to foster communication and success.

What You’ll Bring:

• Current Alabama SLI/Interpreter license or permit (required)
• Recognized interpreting certification preferred (RID, EIPA, BEI, or similar)
• Prior experience in school-based interpreting valued
• Experience with 1:1 student support highly regarded
• Strong commitment to punctuality and attendance for the duration of the academic year
• Dependable, collaborative attitude and effective communication skills

Role Overview:

• Provide dedicated interpreting services for a single student throughout the full school day (8:00 AM – 2:30 PM)
• Collaborate with teachers, educational staff, and administrators to ensure seamless communication and inclusive participation
• Maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality in all interactions
• Support the student’s understanding and access to curriculum, classroom discussions, and school activities
• Remain present and engaged throughout the assignment from ASAP through May 28, 2027
• Adhere to the school’s schedule—late arrivals or early departures cannot be accommodated
