Occupational Therapist School Setting - Detroit, MI

Make a meaningful difference in the development and success of students as a skilled Occupational Therapist supporting elementary-aged learners on a part-time, contract basis. This role provides dedicated OT services for approximately 25 students, primarily at an elementary school, with your expertise also benefitting the wider district.

Enjoy a manageable schedule of 2.5 days per week, aligning with the typical elementary school day from 8:35 am to 3:38 pm. Your work will have a direct impact—empowering students to overcome physical, sensory, or developmental challenges, helping them thrive both academically and socially.

Desired Qualifications & Experience:

• Current licensure as an Occupational Therapist in Michigan
• Previous experience working in a school setting preferred
• Strong understanding of pediatric occupational therapy and IEP processes
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, especially with educators, parents, and multidisciplinary teams
• Ability to independently manage a caseload and adapt interventions to meet individual student needs

Core Responsibilities:

• Assess students’ needs and provide direct occupational therapy services in accordance with IEPs
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans and track measurable progress
• Collaborate with teachers, school staff, and families to support students’ educational goals and classroom participation
• Maintain thorough documentation and reports as required under state and federal guidelines
• Offer ongoing consultation and training to school personnel on strategies and supports
