Occupational Therapist School Setting in Detroit, MI

Make an impact in the lives of students by providing essential occupational therapy services in an engaging school environment. This contract position offers the opportunity to support a district’s diverse group of learners, focusing primarily on elementary-aged students. Work 2.5 days per week with a manageable caseload of approximately 25 students, with responsibilities centered mostly at Thorne Elementary School.

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

• Valid Occupational Therapist license for the state of Michigan
• Previous experience working as an OT in a school-based setting highly preferred
• Proficiency in evaluating, planning, and implementing individualized occupational therapy interventions
• Strong communication skills for collaborating with educators, families, and support staff
• Ability to organize and manage caseload efficiently within a part-time schedule
• Passion for helping children achieve their educational and developmental goals

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess students’ needs and develop customized occupational therapy plans
• Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other specialists to support student development
• Deliver direct therapy services within the elementary day schedule (8:35 AM – 3:38 PM)
• Maintain thorough documentation of student progress and therapy outcomes in compliance with school policies
• Facilitate participation in class activities through adaptive strategies and assistive technology when appropriate
• Contribute to IEP meetings and student team discussions as needed
