Special Education Teacher | West Covina, California

Exciting opportunity for a dedicated Special Education professional to make a difference in a high school setting serving students with autism. This full-time contract position is based near West Covina, CA, and runs from August 13, 2026, through June 4, 2026. You’ll work directly with Exceptional Student Needs (ESN) high schoolers in grades 9-12, providing individualized support and fostering academic and personal growth in an autism classroom environment.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement Individual Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to students with moderate/severe special needs.
• Differentiate instruction and materials to ensure meaningful participation and growth for all learners.
• Collaborate with paraprofessionals, related service providers, families, and the broader educational team.
• Manage classroom behaviors in a positive, proactive manner.
• Monitor student progress, regularly assess goals, and maintain detailed documentation.
• Foster a supportive, inclusive classroom that encourages student independence and achievement.

Qualifications:

• Active California Moderate/Severe Education Specialist credential (required).
• Experience teaching high school students with autism, preferably in an ESN classroom.
• Strong ability to develop effective behavior interventions and adapt curriculum.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and collaboration skills.
