Step into a rewarding role as an ASL Interpreter supporting students and faculty in a vibrant educational environment near Nisswa, MN. This contract opportunity is available on either a full-time or part-time basis for the entirety of the school year, providing flexibility and meaningful impact in your daily work. Utilize your expertise in sign language to help foster inclusive, accessible communication for learners with hearing differences.

Ideal candidates will bring:

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language and experience as a Sign Language Interpreter
  • Skills working within school settings, collaborating with teachers and students
  • Ability to convey spoken content to ASL and translate signed responses accurately
  • Sensitivity to the cultural aspects of Deaf and hard-of-hearing communities
  • Adaptability to different classroom environments and ages
  • Commitment to professional standards and student confidentiality
  • Previous experience as an ASL educator or interpreter in educational settings preferred

Key responsibilities include:

  • Facilitating communication between deaf/hard-of-hearing students and educators or peers during classroom instruction and school activities
  • Supporting teachers by interpreting lessons, instructions, and discussions in real time
  • Adjusting interpreting techniques to suit various educational contexts and individual student needs
  • Participating in meetings with parents, teachers, and student support teams as required
  • Maintaining accurate records of interpreting assignments and student interactions
  • Assisting in fostering inclusive, supportive environments for all students
