Job Description

Make a powerful impact supporting students with visual impairments in an educational setting near Peabody, MA. This onsite contract position offers the unique opportunity to work the 2026-2027 academic year, collaborating closely with a dedicated multidisciplinary team to foster learning and independence for students.

In this dynamic role, you’ll leverage your expertise to address the needs of learners with visual impairments, create and adapt instructional materials, and advocate for necessary accommodations. The contract runs from early September 2026 through mid-June 2027, with flexible full-time or part-time hours to fit your schedule.

Qualifications:

  • Active Teacher of the Visually Impaired (VI) license, issued by the Massachusetts Department of Education (MA DOE)
  • Must have successfully completed the Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure (MTELs)
  • Experience working with students who are visually impaired
  • Strong communication, organization, and advocacy skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with classroom teachers, staff, and families

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess and address the educational needs of students with visual impairments
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) or vision-specific learning plans
  • Adapt classroom materials and instruction for accessibility
  • Teach compensatory skills, including braille, assistive technology, and orientation & mobility basics
  • Serve as a resource for other staff and families regarding visual impairment needs
  • Maintain accurate records and ongoing communication regarding student progress
