Empower students to unlock their full potential by supporting learners with visual impairments in a dynamic educational setting. This contract opportunity spans the full academic year, providing either full-time or part-time flexibility to accommodate your schedule. Located near Lowell, MA, this position calls for a dedicated professional eager to make a lasting impact while working onsite in an inclusive environment.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Current Massachusetts Department of Education VI Teacher License required
  • Strong knowledge of best practices for teaching students who are visually impaired
  • Successful completion of Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure (MTELs)
  • Previous experience working with children and adolescents in a school-based setting preferred
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and families

Key Responsibilities:

  • Instruct and assist students with visual impairments, tailoring curriculum to diverse learning needs
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with school staff and families
  • Provide direct instruction in areas such as Braille, assistive technology, orientation and mobility, and daily living skills
  • Advocate for students’ accessibility and accommodations across academic and extracurricular environments
  • Maintain accurate documentation regarding student progress and needs
  • Participate in professional development and school meetings as required
