Job Description

Step into a vital role supporting students by providing sign language interpretation services in a collaborative, educational environment. We are searching for two full-time, in-person American Sign Language Interpreters to work within schools near Oshkosh, WI. These contract positions offer the chance to help facilitate inclusive learning and communication for students who are deaf or hard of hearing. You’ll play an essential part in ensuring access to curriculum and school activities, making a meaningful impact every day.

Key Qualifications:

  • Current National Interpreter Certification (NIC), EIPA, or equivalent credential
  • High proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and English
  • Prior experience interpreting in educational settings strongly preferred
  • Ability to adapt communication style based on student needs and grade level (elementary, middle, or high school)
  • Demonstrated professionalism, cultural sensitivity, and discretion
  • Effective collaboration skills and readiness to partner with educators and school teams
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and foster a positive, supportive learning atmosphere

Core Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct interpretation services between students, staff, and peers during classroom instruction and school functions
  • Accurately and impartially communicate verbal and signed content
  • Assist with clarifying lesson materials as needed for student comprehension
  • Adjust interpretation style to match different age groups and settings by assignment
  • Support students’ social interaction and participation in extracurricular activities
  • Maintain accurate records and adhere to school policies and professional guidelines
