Bring your expertise as a Special Education Teacher to an impactful, in-person contract opportunity for the 2026-2027 academic year in the Barre area near Montpelier, VT. Two openings are available:

  • Middle School Special Educator supporting students at Barre Town Middle & Elementary School.
  • Elementary School Special Educator providing services at Barre City Elementary & Middle School.

Both roles require a commitment from August 28, 2026, through June 18, 2027, with 37.5 hours per week during the school year.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • State-required special education credentials (non-negotiable).
  • Prior experience as a Special Education Teacher in school settings preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of IEP development, implementation, and compliance.
  • Excellent communication skills for collaborating with families, teachers, and support staff.
  • Ability to maintain a nurturing and structured classroom for diverse learning needs.
  • Must be available for in-person instruction; remote or virtual teaching options are not available.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct special education services to assigned caseloads in either a middle or elementary school setting.
  • Develop, execute, and update Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) to meet the needs of each student.
  • Work collaboratively with classroom teachers to integrate modifications and accommodations.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of student progress in accordance with district and state regulations.
  • Engage with families and staff to foster a collaborative educational environment.
