Job Description
Embark on a dedicated and rewarding contract assignment supporting students’ unique learning needs near Montpelier, VT for the 2026-2027 school year. Two exciting opportunities are available: a Middle School Special Education teaching position at a middle & elementary campus, and an Elementary School Special Education teaching role at an additional elementary & middle location. Each role is entirely in-person to provide the most supportive environment for students and collaborate closely with a welcoming staff community.
These positions run from late August 2026 through mid-June 2027, with a schedule of 37.5 hours each week. You’ll help shape the academic and emotional success of learners by providing individualized instruction, adapting curriculum, and fostering a positive, inclusive classroom culture.
Essential Qualifications:
- Current state licensure/certification in Special Education (required for all applicants)
- Proven experience as a Special Education Teacher, in person, with students at the middle or elementary level
- Sound knowledge of IEP development and implementation
- Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, families, and support staff
- Strong communication, organizational, and classroom management skills
- Commitment to maintaining compliance with state regulations and documentation
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction and interventions per student IEPs
- Assess student abilities, monitor progress, and adjust strategies as needed
- Collaborate with general educators and support personnel to modify curriculum
- Conduct regular communications with parents and guardians
- Ensure a safe, respectful, and engaging learning environment for all students
