Special Education Teacher - Montpelier, Vermont

Embark on a dedicated and rewarding contract assignment supporting students’ unique learning needs near Montpelier, VT for the 2026-2027 school year. Two exciting opportunities are available: a Middle School Special Education teaching position at a middle & elementary campus, and an Elementary School Special Education teaching role at an additional elementary & middle location. Each role is entirely in-person to provide the most supportive environment for students and collaborate closely with a welcoming staff community.

These positions run from late August 2026 through mid-June 2027, with a schedule of 37.5 hours each week. You’ll help shape the academic and emotional success of learners by providing individualized instruction, adapting curriculum, and fostering a positive, inclusive classroom culture.

Essential Qualifications:

• Current state licensure/certification in Special Education (required for all applicants)
• Proven experience as a Special Education Teacher, in person, with students at the middle or elementary level
• Sound knowledge of IEP development and implementation
• Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, families, and support staff
• Strong communication, organizational, and classroom management skills
• Commitment to maintaining compliance with state regulations and documentation

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide specialized instruction and interventions per student IEPs
• Assess student abilities, monitor progress, and adjust strategies as needed
• Collaborate with general educators and support personnel to modify curriculum
• Conduct regular communications with parents and guardians
• Ensure a safe, respectful, and engaging learning environment for all students
