Special Education Teacher - Renton, WA

We are seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher for a contract position serving students ages 18-22 in a transition classroom setting for the 2026-2027 school year. This full-time, onsite role offers the opportunity to guide students as they navigate important life and vocational skills, working closely with a supportive team.

Desired Qualifications:

• Current Washington State Special Education (SPED) teaching license and ESA certificate (must provide verification)
• Previous experience working with students in a school setting is preferred
• Demonstrated ability to develop and implement individualized transition plans for young adults with varying learning needs
• Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills
• Flexibility and adaptability to support evolving student goals
• Enthusiasm for teaching life, social, and vocational skills

Key Responsibilities:

• Create and deliver instruction to students ages 18-22 in a transition classroom, focusing on preparation for independent living, employment, and community integration
• Develop individualized education and transition plans based on student abilities and interests
• Collaborate with families, support staff, and outside agencies to achieve student goals
• Monitor and document student progress according to IEPs and state requirements
• Maintain a positive, inclusive, and structured classroom environment onsite
• Participate in team meetings, professional development, and adjudication processes as needed

This position is full-time, totaling 37.5 hours per week, and requires onsite presence throughout the school year. Please note, the adjudication process may delay start by approximately one week.
