Special Education Teacher in Spanaway, WA

Step into a rewarding contract opportunity as a Special Education Teacher in an elementary school setting, supporting approximately 30 students within a resource room environment. This onsite position offers a consistent Monday to Friday schedule, totaling 37.5 hours each week. The assignment spans from September through February for the 26/27 school year, with the possibility to continue through the end of the academic year.

Key Qualifications and Certifications:

• Valid Washington State Special Education Teaching Certification
• ESA Credential issued by OSPI
• Previous experience in resource room environments at the elementary level preferred
• Strong skills in developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Collaborative mindset and effective communication skills with students, staff, and families
• Flexibility, compassion, and a commitment to fostering inclusive education

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide direct support and instruction to approximately 30 students with varying learning needs in a resource room setting
• Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs in alignment with state and federal regulations
• Adapt and modify curriculum materials to address student learning goals
• Work closely with general education teachers and support staff to facilitate student integration
• Maintain thorough documentation of student progress and communicate regularly with families
• Participate in meetings, trainings, and professional development as required
