Special Education Teacher in Sykesville, MD

Step into a rewarding contract position supporting students with diverse learning needs at two welcoming school sites this academic year. Both positions are full-time, on-site roles and provide the opportunity to positively impact students in inclusive, engaging classroom environments.

Key Requirements:

• Valid Special Education teaching certification for the appropriate age group (middle or elementary level)
• Experience working with students with special needs in school settings
• Knowledge of Learning for Life programs or self-contained classrooms is a plus
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and behavior management skills
• Committed to fostering student growth and supporting individual learning plans

Role Details:

• Serve either at Oakdale Middle in the Learning for Life Program (7:30am-3:30pm, 15 students) or at a second elementary school site with a self-contained caseload (9am-3:30pm, 10 students)
• Plan and deliver engaging special education instruction aligned with IEPs
• Partner with general education teachers, families, and support staff to create positive outcomes for students
• Monitor and document student progress toward IEP goals
• Implement evidence-based strategies and accommodations for individual learners
