Special Education Teacher - Nashua, New Hampshire

Make a meaningful impact working with young learners as a contract special education teacher for the 2026-2027 school year, just outside Nashua, NH. Two full-time openings are available supporting 5th and 6th grade students—one in a resource room setting and the other in a self-contained classroom for students with intensive needs. Both positions are crucial roles created by recent resignations, providing the opportunity to help shape a supportive, inclusive environment for students.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Valid Special Education teaching certification (or eligibility for certification)
• Experience working with elementary or middle school aged students
• Background supporting students with diverse learning needs, including autism spectrum disorder and complex medical conditions (especially for the intensive needs classroom)
• Strong team collaboration and communication skills
• Ability to develop and implement IEPs and individualized learning plans
• Commitment to fostering a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom climate

Responsibilities:

• For the resource room: Manage a caseload of approximately 15 students, delivering specialized instruction and collaborating with general education teachers
• For the intensive needs classroom: Serve as lead teacher for a self-contained setting with three students, each supported by a paraprofessional
• Adapt curriculum and teaching strategies to meet individualized educational and behavioral goals
• Communicate progress regularly with families and support staff
• Maintain organized records, documentation, and compliance with federal and state special education regulations
• Participate in team meetings, professional development, and parent conferences
