Special Education Teacher - Blue Springs, Missouri

Make a meaningful impact as a contract Special Education Teacher in a dedicated life skills program for high school students. You’ll be working onsite with a small caseload (7-9 students) focused on fostering essential life skills and supporting academic, behavioral, and social growth. What you’ll bring:

• Current Special Education Teacher certification for Missouri (or eligible for transfer)
• Experience or strong interest in Essential Life Skills programs or similar SPED settings
• Knowledge of best practices to address a variety of learning, adaptive, and functional needs
• Ability to design and adapt individualized lesson plans and IEPs tailored to students’ unique goals
• Effective classroom management and the ability to foster a supportive, inclusive environment
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to coordinate with staff, families, and related specialists
• Dependability and enthusiasm for empowering high school students with diverse learning needs

Your impact and daily responsibilities:

• Deliver hands-on instruction to high schoolers in a Life Skills classroom
• Develop and track progress on individualized education plans for each student
• Incorporate functional academics, social skills, and daily living strategies
• Collaborate closely with general education staff, therapists, and families
• Maintain clear, consistent records and participate in IEP meetings
• Ensure safety and emotional well-being of all students in your care

This is a fully onsite role supporting a vibrant, close-knit student group. The schedule is a standard school week during the school calendar.
