Special Education Teacher | Independence, Missouri

Based in the vibrant community near Independence, MO, this role is ideal for passionate educators eager to support a small, dedicated caseload. Work onsite with a group of 7-9 high school students, helping to foster independence and prepare them for real-world success in a collaborative and supportive school environment.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Valid Special Education teaching certification (state-appropriate)
• Experience working with high school students in a life skills or essential skills program
• Strong understanding of differentiated instruction and individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Ability to create an inclusive, structured, and positive classroom culture

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver engaging instruction for essential life skills curriculum tailored to individual student needs
• Develop, implement, and track IEP goals in collaboration with fellow educators and families
• Provide consistent behavioral and academic support, encouraging student independence
• Maintain clear records and progress reports
• Communicate regularly with parents, related service providers, and school leadership
• Foster a nurturing, supportive atmosphere that helps students thrive
