Job Description
Make a meaningful impact supporting high school students as a Special Education Teacher specializing in Life Skills instruction. This full-time, onsite contract position offers the chance to work with a manageable caseload of 7-9 students enrolled in an Essential Life Skills program. Key Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education teaching credentials appropriate to high school level
- Prior experience with Essential Life Skills or similar programs strongly preferred
- Proven effectiveness working with small groups of students with diverse needs
- Ability to develop functional, individualized lesson plans and IEPs
- Strong collaboration skills working with general education staff, families, and support personnel
Role Responsibilities:
- Deliver daily instruction for high schoolers focused on Essential Life Skills in an onsite classroom setting
- Adapt learning materials and instructional strategies to accommodate individual needs and IEP goals
- Monitor and document student progress, participating in IEP meetings and transition planning
- Foster a supportive and safe learning atmosphere that encourages growth and independence
- Maintain communication with parents, team members, and administrators to ensure effective student support
- Uphold compliance with district, state, and federal requirements relevant to special education
This position offers the stability of a long-term contract through May 2027, with 37.5 hours per week on a consistent daytime schedule.
