Job Description
Make a difference in education as a dedicated Special Education Teacher supporting a small, self-contained classroom in a contract position near Ocean Springs, MS. You’ll work with a close-knit group of five students, assisted by two talented teaching assistants, within a collaborative elementary and middle school setting. Your expertise in special education will foster a nurturing environment where every student can reach their potential.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid MS SPED K-12 license required.
- Experience supporting students with diverse learning needs in self-contained classrooms preferred.
- Strong classroom management and communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate with teaching assistants and school staff for optimal student support.
- Passion for inclusive education and helping students achieve individualized learning goals.
- Comfortable with panel or casual remote interview settings.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to student needs.
- Deliver engaging instruction that encourages academic and social growth.
- Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, ensuring effective support and supervision.
- Conduct regular progress assessments and communicate outcomes with families and staff.
- Maintain a safe, supportive, and structured classroom environment.
- Participate in training opportunities to remain current in best practices for special education.
