Job Description

Step into a rewarding role supporting young adults with special needs as they prepare for life after high school. This full-time, onsite contract assignment is designed for an engaged Special Education Teacher ready to make a lasting difference in students' lives. Based at a well-established transitions center, you’ll work closely with a dedicated team and a small caseload of 12 students, ages 18 to 21, guiding them through job readiness and independence training both in the classroom and out in the community. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Ideal candidates will bring:

  • Active licensure (CDE) or be in the process of obtaining it (a copy or COOL must accompany your resume)
  • At least one year of hands-on classroom experience in special education
  • Experience with IEP writing, Behavior Support Plans (BSP), and maintaining data-driven documentation
  • Strong collaboration skills and a flexible approach to team-based support
  • Passion for fostering independence, job skills, and community engagement in young adults

In this role, your responsibilities include:

  • Delivering instruction centered around vocational, independence, and life skills
  • Supporting students in real-world community environments
  • Composing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and Behavior Support Plans
  • Collecting and analyzing student data to inform instructional adjustments
  • Working alongside colleagues and external partners to facilitate holistic student growth
  • Engaging families and caregivers in the transition process

This is a fantastic opportunity for educators seeking meaningful, hands-on work with transition-aged students in a supportive, collaborative environment. If you have the skills and dedication to help these young adults thrive, apply today and help students take the next step toward independence!

Compensation for this position ranges from $31.34 to $50.82. Eligible candidates may also receive healthcare benefits, housing, and meals/incidentals. Full details of our healthcare benefits plan can be found here. This posting is open for 60 days after the posting date.
