Job Description

Step into a role supporting students’ communication needs with expertise as a Sign Language Interpreter. This contract opportunity spans multiple settings, including a part-time onsite assignment at Alliance Academy and part-time floating coverage across the district. You’ll have a direct impact as a dedicated 1:1 interpreter, fostering access and inclusion for students throughout the academic day.

Assignment begins as soon as possible and continues through May 27, 2027. This is a full-time position based in a dynamic educational environment.

Qualifications & Licensure Requirements:

  • Current Georgia Department of Education (GA DOE) SLI license, available for immediate presentation
  • Proven skill in American Sign Language and interpreting in school or youth-focused settings
  • Experience collaborating with educators, support staff, and families to best serve student needs
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and demonstrating professionalism in all interactions

Responsibilities:

  • Provide real-time interpretation for a student on a 1:1 basis across academic activities, ensuring clear communication with teachers, peers, and staff
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and educational teams to support student learning and participation
  • Travel between assignments as a floating interpreter when needed, adapting quickly to varied settings
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of services provided
  • Serve as an accessible resource for staff regarding best practices in working with Deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals
