Qualifications:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
• Current certification or licensure as a Sign Language Interpreter (national or state)
• Prior experience interpreting in academic settings, particularly with school-aged children, is highly valued
• Strong understanding of confidentiality and ethical standards as set by interpreting organizations
• Excellent interpersonal skills and adaptability in diverse classroom situations
• Ability to collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to best serve student needs

Responsibilities:

• Interpret spoken language into ASL (and vice versa) for students, teachers, and staff in classroom settings and throughout the school day
• Support students in both individual and group instructional settings, ensuring equal access to academic material
• Facilitate communication during school events, meetings, and extracurricular activities as needed
• Maintain accuracy, integrity, and impartiality in all interpretations
• Consult with teachers and educational teams regarding progress and strategies to maximize student inclusion
• Adhere to all relevant policies, procedures, and ethical standards for educational interpreters
