Special Education Teacher job near Detroit, MI

Sunbelt is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to support students with a variety of disabilities in a Flex Room setting near Detroit, MI. This position is similar to a self-contained classroom and provides an opportunity to deliver individualized instruction and support based on each student's unique needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialized instruction to students with a variety of disabilities
• Manage a Flex Room classroom with a caseload of up to 15 students
• Develop and implement instruction aligned with individual student IEP goals
• Differentiate curriculum and instructional strategies to meet diverse learning needs
• Establish a structured, positive, and supportive classroom environment
• Implement appropriate classroom management and behavioral support strategies
• Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation and records
• Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the development and implementation of student plans
• Collaborate with general education teachers, special education staff, related service providers, paraprofessionals, and families
• Support students' academic, behavioral, social-emotional, and functional development

Qualifications

• Valid Michigan Special Education Teacher certification
• Experience working with students with a variety of disabilities preferred
• Experience in a self-contained, resource, or similar special education setting preferred
• Strong instructional and classroom management skills
• Knowledge of IEP development and implementation
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Ability to differentiate instruction and adapt to individual student needs
