Make a difference every day by supporting students as a dedicated Special Education Teacher focused on Cognitive Impairment (CI) in a contract position near Grand Blanc, MI. This rewarding opportunity is ideal for professionals passionate about guiding elementary-aged learners with unique needs, especially in an environment with a collaborative, multidisciplinary team.

Your expertise will primarily benefit one student, aged 8 or 9, in a full team approach that emphasizes not only academic growth but also behavioral and mental health support. This position is strictly onsite and based at a well-resourced education technology center, where you will help foster independence and success.

Key Qualifications & Experience:

  • Current CI (Cognitive Impairment) certification required—ideal for teachers with strong skills relevant to ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) roles
  • Previous experience supporting students with cognitive or developmental challenges is highly desirable
  • Familiarity with team-based educational and behavioral intervention planning
  • Passion for working with elementary-level learners and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and patience in high-need educational environments

Role Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized and group instruction tailored to cognitive, behavioral, and mental health needs
  • Collaborate closely with psychologists, therapists, and support staff in a true team model
  • Manage and update documentation, IEPs, and progress reports
  • Employ evidence-based strategies to address behavioral challenges
  • Offer guidance and encouragement to help one primary student build confidence and essential skills
