Make a meaningful difference in the lives of students as a Visually Impaired Teacher for the upcoming academic year. This unique opportunity near Lowell, MA is onsite only and offers flexibility with either full-time or part-time hours. The ideal candidate will be passionate about supporting children with visual impairments, helping them succeed academically and gain confidence in a collaborative school setting.

What we’re looking for:

  • Valid Massachusetts Department of Education (MA DOE) license for Visual Impairment Teachers
  • Successful completion of MTELs
  • Experience working as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired or similar role in schools
  • Ability to collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, and families
  • Strong communication, organizational, and adaptive teaching skills
  • Commitment to creating inclusive and accessible learning environments

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide specialized instruction and support to visually impaired students, tailoring strategies and resources to individual learning needs
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
  • Adapt classroom materials and utilize assistive technologies to enhance accessibility
  • Advocate for students’ needs and foster their independence and self-advocacy skills
  • Offer support and training to school staff regarding best practices for visually impaired students
  • Actively participate in meetings and communicate regularly with families to monitor progress

This contract role runs from September 1, 2026, to June 14, 2027, with flexible scheduling options to fit your needs.
