Job Description

Make a meaningful impact supporting students with significant needs in a special education environment as a Paraprofessional. This contract role is based in a highly structured educational program at a Setting 4 site, serving students from elementary through high school who require specialized classrooms and intensive support.

In this position, you’ll work onsite for 32.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday, from September 8, 2026, through June 10, 2027. This rewarding opportunity focuses on providing behavioral, academic, and daily living assistance to students who are in special education for their entire school day and often present with challenging behaviors and complex disabilities.

Qualifications:

  • Must be considered “highly qualified” via one of the following:
    • Successful completion of the MN Board Highly Qualified Paraprofessional Exam (with official documentation or passing MN Para Educator Exam)
    • Minimum of 60 completed college credits (transcripts required; diploma or degree not accepted)
  • Experience or comfort working with students who exhibit significant behaviors and require ongoing support throughout the day
  • Willingness to assist with toileting and personal care needs as part of daily responsibilities
  • Flexible regarding age group assignment, with the ability to support students from elementary to high school
  • Resume and appropriate highly qualified documentation required for consideration

Responsibilities:

  • Engage students in daily learning activities and routines in coordination with special education teachers and therapists
  • Provide personalized academic and behavioral support as outlined in individual education plans (IEPs)
  • Assist with de-escalation and crisis intervention techniques as needed
  • Support students in developing life skills, including hygiene and toileting assistance
  • Foster a nurturing and safe classroom environment
