School Occupational Therapist | Dearborn, Michigan

Drive positive change for students as an occupational therapist in a dynamic school environment. Serving primarily at an elementary campus and supporting the district overall, you’ll flex your expertise over 2.5 days each week, helping students thrive and unlocking their full potential.

In this highly collaborative and child-centered role, you will manage a caseload of approximately 25 students. Your schedule aligns with the elementary day, working closely with teachers, support staff, and families to deliver direct therapy, evaluate progress, and create meaningful intervention plans. Your insight will be invaluable in fostering independence and enhancing daily living and academic participation across the student body.

Your background should include:

• Current state licensure and credentials as an Occupational Therapist
• Prior experience in a school-based setting, especially with elementary-age students
• Solid knowledge of individualized education plans (IEPs), goal-setting, and collaborative therapy approaches
• Ability to engage children using creative, adaptive techniques
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Experience coordinating with educators and special services staff is highly valued

Key responsibilities:

• Assess students’ fine motor, sensory, and adaptive skills within the school setting
• Develop, implement, and monitor individualized therapy interventions
• Document student progress in accordance with district policies
• Attend and contribute to IEP meetings, providing expertise on occupational therapy needs
• Support teachers and families with effective strategies for classroom and home environments
• Adjust interventions and schedules to meet evolving student needs
