Registered Nurse School Setting in Flower Mound, TX

A part-time contract opportunity is available for a Registered Nurse with school nursing experience and specific expertise supporting students who are deaf or hard of hearing. In this rewarding role, you’ll work directly with a 1st grade student, providing both medical care and communication support. The assignment starts as soon as possible and runs through May 27, 2027.

Key qualifications:

• Current, active RN license
• Prior experience in school nursing and/or pediatric care
• Comfortable supporting a student with a tracheostomy and oxygen PRN
• Proficiency or comfort with American Sign Language (ASL), or willingness to quickly learn common signs
• Ability to deliver compassionate, skillful care to students with complex medical needs
• Prepared to work onsite and ride the bus with the student between Flower Mound, TX, and the regional day school
• Available to work Monday through Wednesday, 6:30AM – 3:45/4PM

Day-to-day responsibilities:

• Escort and supervise the student on the school bus to and from the day school
• Monitor ventilation and trach care requirements throughout the day
• Assist with oxygen administration, if required
• Support the student’s use of verbal and sign language for school participation
• Collaborate with teachers, aides, and school staff for holistic student care
• Maintain accurate nursing records and communicate with the student’s caregivers as needed
