R&D Mechanical Technician / Pay rate: $30 - $35/hr

Summary:

• We are seeking a hands-on Mechanical Technician to support the development of medical products for image-guided surgery.
• This role will work closely with Mechanical Engineers in a laboratory environment to build, assemble, troubleshoot, test, and maintain complex mechanical and electromechanical systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assemble, troubleshoot, test, repair, and evaluate prototypes, machines, and production hardware.
• Read mechanical drawings and apply GD&T/tolerance principles.
• Work with motion systems including bearings, ball screws, belts, chains, gear reducers, servo motors, and stepper motors.
• Support verification, validation, prototype builds, and production readiness.
• Perform mechanical inspections, failure analysis, preventive maintenance, and modifications.
• Build/modify simple fixtures and test setups and maintain technical documentation.

Requirements:

• High school diploma/equivalent with 4+ years of relevant hands-on technical experience.
• Strong mechanical/electromechanical assembly and troubleshooting experience.
• Experience working with machines, prototypes, or complex equipment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic documentation.
• Medical device, X-ray systems, SolidWorks, machine shop, soldering, or PCBA experience is a plus.
