Job Title: R&D Mechanical Technician III / Lab Technician III

Location: Boxborough, MA 01719

Pay Rate: $30/hr. to $35/hr. on W2

Job Summary

• Seeking a hands-on Mechanical Technician to support the development of medical devices for image-guided surgery.
• The technician will work closely with Mechanical Engineers in a laboratory environment to build, assemble, troubleshoot, test, inspect, repair, and maintain complex mechanical and electromechanical systems and prototypes.

Requirements

• High school diploma/equivalent and 4+ years of relevant hands-on experience
• Ability to read mechanical drawings, understand tolerances/GD&T, and perform inspections
• Strong experience with mechanical/electromechanical assembly and troubleshooting
• Familiarity with motion systems, including bearings, ball screws, belts, chains, gear reducers, servo and stepper motors
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with Engineering and cross-functional teams
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic documentation systems

Preferred

• Machine shop/manual machining and basic fabrication experience
• Prototype builds, verification/validation, or production-readiness experience
• Experience with large capital equipment, X-ray systems, medical devices, soldering, cable building, or PCBA repair
• Familiarity with SolidWorks and Agile PLM

Key Responsibilities

• Build, troubleshoot, test, repair, and modify prototype and production hardware
• Support system bring-up, verification, validation, and failure analysis
• Inspect parts and assemblies and interpret engineering drawings
• Perform preventive maintenance and equipment modifications
• Fabricate simple parts, fixtures, and test setups
• Maintain accurate technical documentation, work instructions, BOMs, and test records
