Diagnostician Special Education Teacher | Portage, Indiana

Key Qualifications:

• Valid certification as an Educational Diagnostician
• Experience in conducting educational and psychological assessments for school-aged children
• Strong understanding of special education laws, procedures, and best practices
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Ability to manage confidential information with professionalism
• Adaptability in responding to varying caseloads and student needs across multiple sites

Key Responsibilities:

• Evaluate students referred for special education services, utilizing a range of standardized and informal assessment tools
• Collaborate with educators, families, and other specialists to interpret assessment data and develop effective educational plans
• Participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings and contribute comprehensive reports
• Support eligibility determinations and compliance with state and federal mandates
• Assist in ongoing progress monitoring, reevaluations, and consultation with classroom teachers
• Travel as needed to provide services at several schools within the county, with a primary office/home base at the SELF school

This contract role is scheduled for 7 hours per day, typically between 7:45 a.m. and 3:15 p.m., and offers a flexible, rewarding pathway to engage with students from various backgrounds and areas of need.
