Special Education Teacher | Liberty, Missouri

This contract opportunity offers a chance to make a meaningful impact in a dedicated high school setting focused on Special Education. Work onsite, providing comprehensive support and instruction to a small caseload of 7-9 students within the Essential Life Skills program, helping to build their confidence and independence for life beyond the classroom.

Key Qualifications:

• Valid Special Education Teacher certification, or eligibility to obtain certification
• Strong background in developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Prior experience in a high school special education setting preferred
• Expertise working with students requiring functional academic and life skills instruction
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with families and multidisciplinary teams
• Flexibility, patience, and creativity in adapting instruction to diverse learning styles

Primary Responsibilities:

• Deliver engaging, individualized instruction to students with varying abilities in the Essential Life Skills program
• Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs, tracking progress and adjusting goals as appropriate
• Foster a supportive, inclusive classroom environment that promotes student confidence and social growth
• Work closely with general education staff and support personnel to ensure appropriate accommodations and modifications
• Maintain accurate records, document student progress, and participate in meetings with families and stakeholders
• Utilize positive behavioral interventions and supports to encourage a productive learning atmosphere

This is a full-time, onsite contract position through May 2027, providing the unique reward of guiding students as they acquire crucial skills for their futures.
