Job Description
Step into a meaningful contract opportunity supporting K-12 students across a variety of schools throughout North Kansas City, Missouri for the upcoming school year. Flexible, compassionate, and dedicated paraprofessionals are needed to collaborate in diverse educational settings, from elementary to high school, including specialized SPED classrooms.
This role involves providing either 1:1 or general classroom support. Candidates should be ready to adapt to changing placements as assignments may shift within the district’s 22 elementary, 6 middle, or 5 high schools based on needs throughout the year. You’ll work closely with teachers, aides, therapists, and other professionals to create an inclusive, respectful environment that encourages student growth. Duties may include implementing behavior intervention plans, supporting students with toileting/changing needs, and addressing challenging behaviors.
Qualifications & Experience Desired:
- Possession of an active Missouri Substitute Certificate (DESE) or passing the ParaPro Exam with transcripts on file (required to interview; see DESE checker for status).
- Previous experience in a paraprofessional role or working with students with various needs is highly advantageous.
- Comfortable partnering with students in SPED classrooms and managing behavioral challenges.
- Flexible with assignments, including potentially serving multiple sites during the school year.
- Openness to collaborate with a variety of staff, and commitment to student dignity and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support teachers and specialized staff in delivering instructional and behavioral support.
- Assist students with day-to-day activities including, as needed, toileting and hygiene.
- Foster a supportive, respectful classroom environment.
- Implement strategies and follow plans designed to help students succeed.
