Embark on a rewarding contract opportunity as a School-Based Art Therapist supporting students across various sites in Frederick County. This role allows you to apply your expertise in a dynamic educational setting, focusing on fostering student well-being through creative therapy interventions.

Working onsite during the academic year (August 19th through June 4th), you'll collaborate with school staff and families as you provide services to a manageable caseload of 15 students. Your scheduled hours are part-time—20 hours per week, between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM—offering flexibility while ensuring meaningful engagement with your students.

Key Qualifications:

  • Current state licensure as an Art Therapist through the Maryland Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists is required
  • Experience working as a School Therapist or Art Therapist, ideally within a school or youth-focused environment
  • Strong observational, documentation, and communication skills
  • A commitment to fostering student growth and supporting diverse needs
  • Ability to work independently across multiple school sites

Role Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement individual and group art therapy interventions tailored to student needs
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to support students’ emotional and behavioral goals
  • Maintain accurate records and progress documentation in compliance with school and district policies
  • Participate in student support teams and IEP meetings as appropriate
  • Provide consultation and advocacy for the benefits of art therapy within the school community
