Special Education Teacher | Hockessin, Delaware

Exciting opportunities await dedicated Special Education Teachers passionate about empowering students to reach their full potential! Multiple contract positions are available for the upcoming academic year at several school levels, with flexible school site options to fit your interests and skillset. Assignments will start August 25, 2026, and run through June 8, 2027, covering 35 hours per week (Monday-Friday).

You’ll work in supportive school environments, collaborating with caring teams and making a meaningful difference in the lives of students with diverse needs. Choose from elementary, middle, or high school sites to best match your experience and preferences. Enjoy a consistent schedule with clearly defined hours:

• Elementary Schools: 8:30 am – 4:00 pm
• Middle School: 7:10 am – 3:10 pm
• High School: 7:15 am – 2:45 pm

Required qualifications:

• Current and valid Delaware Special Education Teacher license
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Special Education or a related field
• Previous experience teaching or supporting students with special needs strongly preferred
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and classroom management skills
• Ability to adapt instruction to meet individualized education plan (IEP) goals
• Demonstrated commitment to inclusive, student-centered education

Key responsibilities include:

• Providing high-quality instruction to students with disabilities in a variety of settings
• Developing and implementing IEPs in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
• Maintaining accurate and timely documentation for student progress
• Working closely with families, staff, and service providers to support student growth
• Fostering an inclusive and positive classroom environment
