Step into a meaningful role providing academic counseling for high school students in a contract position working with area schools near Westland, MI. This position will run from August 31, 2026 through June 4, 2027, offering a full-time schedule and the opportunity to positively shape students’ educational paths.

As an academic counselor, you’ll support the educational, social, and emotional development of high schoolers, guiding them in academic planning and helping them navigate their journey to graduation and beyond.

Qualifications:

• Michigan education certificate with a valid School Counselor Endorsement (Please ensure current licensure/certifications are included with your application)
• Background in school counseling, with a focus on academic and career planning for high school students
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with students, families, and educational staff
• Effective communicator, both in one-on-one and group settings
• Ability to handle sensitive issues with confidentiality and professionalism

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide individual and group counseling to high school students regarding academic achievement, college readiness, and post-secondary options
• Develop and implement education plans in collaboration with students, parents, and faculty
• Assist students with course selection, scheduling, and meeting graduation requirements
• Address students’ social and emotional needs as they relate to educational development
