Special Education Teacher in Olathe, KS

Make an impact supporting K-12 students as a Special Education Teacher for the 2026-2027 academic year. Multiple contract opportunities are open for passionate, qualified educators in a dynamic school environment offering life skills, autism, or behavior-focused classroom settings. Assignments are available at the elementary, middle, and high school levels, as well as in alternative programs serving all grade bands with a focus on severe behaviors.

Openings:

• 10 Elementary School Special Education positions
• 5 Middle School Special Education positions
• 4 High School Special Education positions
• 2 “Bridges” positions (alternative program for students of all grades with significant behavioral needs)

Qualified candidates will:

• Hold an active Kansas State Special Education teaching license for the grade level they wish to teach (license must be current before consideration)
• Have classroom or practicum experience supporting students with disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, or significant behavioral needs
• Demonstrate adaptability and commitment to individualized student growth
• Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, families, and support staff
• Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Participate in ongoing professional development activities

Key responsibilities:

• Design and deliver individualized instruction in core and functional life skills, social skills, and academic content as appropriate
• Manage evidence-based behavioral support strategies in inclusive and specialized settings
• Collect data and adjust instructional plans based on student progress
• Maintain compliance with all state and federal special education regulations

This contract spans the full 2026-2027 school year (August 2026 through May 2027).
