Job Description

Make a difference as a Mental Health Specialist supporting elementary students near Grand Blanc, MI! This contract role offers a focused opportunity to use your expertise to provide direct social-emotional support to general education students, as well as collaborate with educators on positive behavior programs and professional learning initiatives.

Your primary responsibilities include leading individual and group sessions, promoting student well-being, and contributing to a positive school culture. You’ll have real impact working closely with classroom staff to implement evidence-based supports in both individual and school-wide contexts. This position features two elementary openings, allowing you to focus your skills where they’re needed most.

Ideal Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree required (no bachelor’s credentials accepted)
  • Valid LARA license: LMSW, LLMSW (supervised), LPC, LLPC (supervised), Marriage and Family Therapist, or Professional Counselor (supervised or fully licensed)
  • MDE credentialed master’s level school psychologist also considered
  • School Counselor License, Michigan Teaching Certificate with School Counselor endorsement, Preliminary or Temporary School Counselor Credentials may be accepted (with specified licensure progression requirements as per LARA guidelines)
  • Experience in school settings, ideally with elementary students
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Commitment to fostering a supportive, inclusive learning environment

Core Responsibilities:

  • Deliver social-emotional support to individual students and groups
  • Develop and implement positive behavior and wellness programs
  • Partner with teachers and staff to address behavioral and mental health needs
  • Support classroom and schoolwide initiatives for student success
