Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Senior Tax Accountant to join a public accounting team serving clients in Lincoln, Nebraska. This position is responsible for managing sophisticated tax engagements, reviewing completed returns for technical accuracy, and addressing complex tax matters across multiple entity types. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical judgment, current knowledge of tax regulations, and a client-focused approach to delivering dependable, high-quality work.

Responsibilities:
• Prepare advanced tax filings for individuals, corporations, partnerships, fiduciaries, exempt organizations, and other entities with a strong focus on completeness and precision.
• Examine returns completed by other tax team members, verify compliance with applicable federal, state, and local requirements, and approve final work for filing.
• Coach entry-level team members through detailed review notes and practical guidance that strengthens technical capability and supports consistent work quality.
• Investigate complex tax questions involving areas such as multi-state obligations, available credits, allowable deductions, and unusual transactions, then recommend appropriate treatment.
• Communicate with taxing agencies regarding client notices, examinations, and information requests, including assembling documentation and drafting responses.
• Keep tax knowledge current by monitoring legislative developments, regulatory updates, and industry standards that may affect client filings and planning.
• Maintain organized workpapers and supporting records that clearly document conclusions and positions taken on returns.
• Partner with accounting and tax colleagues to provide coordinated solutions that align compliance work with broader client needs.
• Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by identifying workflow enhancements and helping shape departmental quality standards and best practices.
• Provide responsive client service by answering questions promptly and sharing relevant tax updates that may affect planning or compliance obligations.• 5+ years of experience in public accounting or a closely related tax environment.
• Demonstrated background preparing and reviewing corporate, individual, partnership, fiduciary, and other complex tax returns.
• Strong knowledge of federal income tax rules, state and local tax considerations, and common compliance requirements for multiple entity structures.
• Experience handling complex return issues, including consolidated filings, estate-related matters, and multi-state tax questions.
• Ability to interpret tax law, research technical issues independently, and apply conclusions accurately to client situations.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical matters clearly to clients and colleagues.
• Proven attention to detail, sound organizational skills, and the ability to manage deadlines across multiple engagements.
