Duties and responsibilities

· Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with members of the community, youth, parents, Tribes, projects, and partnership staff.

· Contact Tribal Youth about upcoming events and other opportunities.

· Leading Native Youth Olympics coaching.

· Acts as chaperone on trips and youth events.

· Effectively communicate with parents including newsletter, activity/snack calendars and discussions.

· Adheres to policies related to boundaries with youths.

· Completes required child abuse prevention training.

· Reports suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations in accordance to mandated reporting requirements.

· Assist in writing grants, collecting accurate data, and managing all department funding.

· Assist with budget and management of all expenses with the accounting department.

· Assist with updating plans and policies to ensure that program services comply with regulations and maximize program flexibility.

· Must adhere to the highest level of confidentiality.

· Organizes and supports the cultural day camp and leads youth through day camp activities.

· Researching and planning youth activities including cultural activities and events.

· Assist with the coordination of activities with other agencies.

· Maintaining all documents and project details.

· Supporting basic administrative functions.

· Maintaining department equipment, supplies and snacks.

· Look for and learn new information, tools, and techniques that can be taught to our community.

· Other duties as assigned.

· Informs Youth Services Supervisor accurately and fully regarding Program and Department.

Qualifications

· Have strong knowledge of Salamatof Tribe, traditions, and customs.

· Presentation skills.

· Strong written and verbal communication skills.

· Proficient in the use of personal computers, office productivity software, and common business computer technologies (e.g., Windows, Word, Excel, Faxage, printers, copiers, and scanners).

· Ability to multitask to complete a wide variety of tasks and projects.

· Problem solving.

· Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.

· Process improvement.

· Attention to detail to ensure tasks are completed thoroughly and correctly.

· Flexibility to adjust to new strategies, procedures, and tasks as the organization evolves.

· Collaborative problem solving by seeking input and ideas from others.

· Reliability and discretion with sensitive information.

· Team player qualities.

· Be able to converse respectfully with elders and Tribal members.

· Experience Chaperoning and/or working with Youth grades 4th through 12th.

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements

· High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.

· 1-2 years of experience working with Youth

· Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, e-mail, spreadsheets, and managing files and records and other office procedures at a proficient level.

· Have a reliable way to get to work.

Working conditions

Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment with extensive public contact and frequent interruptions.

Physical requirements

Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight 50 lbs.; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; to travel to other locations using various modes of private and commercial transportation; and to verbally communicate to exchange information.
