Make a meaningful impact in the lives of students with visual impairments in a supportive educational setting. This contract opportunity seeks an experienced educator ready to take on a full-time role, working onsite to empower 20-23 students with diverse needs. In this position, you’ll use your expertise to provide specialized instruction, advocating for accessibility and ensuring every student reaches their fullest potential. The assignment spans from ASAP through May 2027, offering both stability and the chance to build valuable relationships in the classroom.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Valid North Carolina Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) License or relevant certifications (required)
  • Previous experience teaching students with visual impairments in a school environment is highly preferred
  • Ability to adapt instruction for a wide range of student abilities and needs
  • Strong communication skills with students, staff, and families
  • Commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive learning atmosphere

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments, tailoring teaching strategies to support individual education plans (IEPs)
  • Develop and implement lessons using accessible materials and assistive technologies
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and support staff to ensure comprehensive support for students
  • Conduct assessments and contribute to IEP meetings and documentation
  • Foster a positive classroom climate to encourage student growth and independence
